Trailer Mix: Frozen

Maybe it’s because I grew up in Colorado and know that this scenario is completely impossible, but this looks chillingly horrible. Like, my face is frozen in shock at how awful it is. Its horribleness sends shivers down my spine. My brain is numb from … well, you get the point.

Trailer Mix: The King of Fighters

In case The Legend of Chun-Li wasn’t horrible enough for you, Mortal Kombat ripoff The King of Fighters is stepping up to vie for worst-movie-based-on-a-video-game. Looks like it’s got a good shot at the title, too.

Trailer Mix: Ninja Assassin

Ninjas — shit, yeah!

Trailer Mix: 2012

This movie reminds me a lot of The Day After Tomorrow — tons of cataclysmic, end-of-the-world explosions and awesomeness. Or at least that’s what I thought that Day After Tomorrow was going to be. And for about 15 minutes, it was. I spent the rest of it wanting to bang my head against the wall to make the nonsense stop because things like people outrunning the cold were happening.

So I realize this might be like that proverb about a dog returning to its own vomit when I say this, but … I’m pretty psyched about 2012. It looks like it’s got some great special effects. Sure there’s a minimal plot about building an ark, but as long as stuff keeps getting destroyed in awesome ways, I’ll be happy.

Here’s hoping for better end of times this go-around.

Trailer Mix: Sherlock Holmes

I wouldn’t have guessed Sherlock Holmes could be as cool looking as this, but the film seems to have a good bit of action, some humor and, no doubt, plenty of intrigue. Add in a little Rachel McAdams and it doesn’t take a detective to figure out I’ll be seeing this on opening day.

Trailer Mix: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

OK, this looks pretty freakin’ sweet.

Trailer Mix: Street Fighter and Dragonball Evolution

While Dark Knight helped remake the image of movies based on comic books, movies based on video games or cartoons have yet to find such a break from the crappy, crappy mold.

Two new trailers indicate it ain’t happening anytime soon.

Exhibit A: The new Street Fighter movie:

Exhibit B: A live-action Dragonball Z movie. I don’t know much about the cartoon except that whenever I would catch it on the Cartoon Network, 20 minutes of the 30-minute episode seemed to be spent with the characters straining their muscles and sounding constipated. This trailer makes about that much sense:

Trailer Mix: Push

It’s like Heroes: The Movie … except, you know, maybe good. I hope.

Trailer Mix: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

Joss Whedon reteams with Buffy vets Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day and Alyson Hannigan’s co-star Neil Patrick Harris for the online-only Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, a series of webisodes about … uh, I’m not exactly sure, but I’ll take it.

Trailer Mix: The Incredible Hulk

Ang Lee’s version of Marvel’s Hulk was anything but incredible, but that isn’t stopping Transporter director Louis Leterrier from try, try, trying again. The bad CG is back, and it looks like Ed Norton is going to find out what Eric Bana knows all too painfully well: It ain’t easy being green.
