Get lucky
Lucky Number Slevin is a fun thriller. To summarize briefly:
Slevin (Josh Hartnett) gets in over his head when a case of mistaken identity puts him at the mercy of two rival crime lords—The Boss (Morgan Freeman) and The Rabbi (Sir Ben Kingsley). Also in the picture is an assassin by the name of Goodkat (Bruce Willis) and the overly inquisitive girl next door, Lindsey (Lucy Liu).
Suffice to say, this is a crime movie, and a lot of people are killed. Slevin reminds me of some modern classic movies that revel in numerous twists and turns. The payoff is good, but the journey is just as gratifying. The cast does a great job, and the banter is often quite witty, particularly Slevin’s deadpan sense of humor. The movie has fun with itself, but still creates an air of tension that leaves you guessing as to what will happen next and how Slevin is going to extricate himself from this mess.
Slevin has more twists than an 8, but I give it a 10. ![]()
