Superherohype.com is reporting that Michael Bay has indicated the Mars Rover business will not be a part of the upcoming Transformers film (Summer 2007) after all. Mr. Bay must have read our site and come up with this as a cover story. Quick! $200 million re-shoots!

Apparently, it’s just something they did on the cheap — it’s almost completely stock footage, after all — to throw together a teaser trailer. Way to put a bad taste in the fans’ mouths. But at least they’re not going with that story.

Update: Apparently those rocket/Mars shots aren’t stock footage at all, as Mr. Michael Bay apparently filmed them himself. Uh, we’re not sure why.
