And winner of Worst Idea of the Year is ...
A recent Cox News Service article says a new video game controller is coming out to help gamers burn calories while they play.

It’s called the Kilowatt Sport from Powergrid Fitness. At the low retail rate of $999.95, you, too, can play games on all the major consoles (PS2, Xbox and Gamecube) with this behemoth. Instead of using your thumb to move the control pad, you brace yourself against a post and push and pull on the handles. You do this everytime you want to move, with the more pressure you apply, the faster your character moves.
The Web site touts it as “the first interactive strength training machine that combines the significant benefits of an isometric workout with the fun of video games.” This clearly proves that they may know something about isometric workouts but absolutely nothing about fun.
Can you imagine playing Ninja Gaiden with this thing?!
I predict five of these will be sold … all to members of the inventor’s family. ![]()

Uuuuuh…
So who exactly thought that the average video game player is in any way interested in getting exercise?
Isn’t DDR all any gamer needs for exercise?
I would maybe consider this if I had a spare grand, but what about, like, racing games? My hands get sore holding the Xbox’s right trigger four hours straight. Would racing games be like endurance events with the Kilowatt?
